Cedar Rapids Area

  • Cedar Rapids Recreation Programs offers a year-round schedule of recreation and leisure activities for all ages and special programs for people with disabilities.
  • Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department manages 95 parks and trails on over 3,360 acres of land. In addition to the urban parks of all sizes, there are many acres held in reserve as undeveloped green space for future park expansion and flood control. Ball diamonds, restrooms, and playgrounds abound throughout the park system.
  • Indian Creek Nature Center is a private, non-profit nature center providing environmental education for all ages that is funded by memberships, income from programs, donations, and grants. The 210 acres with four miles of trails provide woodlands, prairies, wetlands and riparian forests for a unique outdoor classroom.
  • Department of Natural Resources Iowa Parks offers news, up to the minute updates on closures and openings. Also information on hunting and fishing and all permits and licenses.
  • Hiawatha Parks and Recreation seeks to support and promote diversity and inclusiveness through the provision of a wide variety of high quality leisure programs and services that aim to serve the recreational needs of the community in an enjoyable, healthy and safe environment. The Hiawatha Parks and Recreation Department overseas the maintenance and general improvements of the parks in our community.
  • Linn County Parks Parks, camping, fishing, etc. offers the ability for you to research, reserve and complete your payment for our reservation facilities (lodges, cabins, shelters, etc.)
  • Seminole Valley Farm Museum Seminole Valley Farm Museum is a 1900 farm site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a restored farm site to show what early farm life was like in Iowa.
  • Ushers Ferry Historic Village Ushers Ferry Historic Village provides the citizens of Cedar Rapids and Eastern Iowa with a venue for family friendly activities, events and programs that build community from the historical perspective of a small Iowa town at the turn of the 20th century. Located on a ten acre site in beautiful Seminole Valley Park, Ushers Ferry features 20 historic buildings that depict life in a small Iowa town between the years of 1890 and 1910.

Iowa City Area

  • Lake Macbride State Park Information on Picnicking/Shelters, Camping, Trails, and Lake Activities (Swimming, boating, fishing)
  • Johnson County Conservation Parks, camping, fishing, etc. manages natural resources and outdoor recreation areas throughout the county. Several native prairies, river access areas, small community parks, and the 1,082 acre F.W. Kent Park provides a variety of services in natural resources recreation, and conservation.

Kids Activities

  • Iowa Children's Museum Over 28,000 square feet of interactive exhibits provide stimulating learning experiences designed primarily for children ages birth to twelve. The museum is committed to the principles of inclusion and serves a diverse audience.
  • Planet X Family fun center Hosting over 30,000 birthday parties and 5,000 group events in just 10 years. Laser Tag, Miniature Golf, Bumper Cars, Arcade Games, and Great Pizza.
  • The Play Station We offer an indoor play land with over 12,000 square feet of excitement. Located at 200 Collins Rd NE, Cedar Rapids.
  • Science Station Science Station @ Lindale, the interim location on the main floor of Lindale Mall, is now open. Stop in anytime (they're open 6 days a week, closed Mondays), to see their traveling exhibit, Real World Robots, sponsored by St. Lukes Hospital, now through January 31. Also, they've got a really fun Early Childhood Area for children 7 and under, plus some of the popular exhibits from downtown.
  • Young Footliters Childrens' Theater group A Theater group dedicated to providing a positive singing and acting experience to the youth from Kindergarten to 12th grade in the Iowa City area
